There has been a continuous progress observed in the industrialisation of Ajmer district; National Highway 8 and Broad Gauge Line being the primary reasons.

            There are four sub division like Ajmer, Kishangarh, Kekri and Beawar.

SUB-DIVISION AJMER:-

The registered No of MSME’S in Ajmer Sub division are 5702. The main MSMEs of Ajmer district are casting, engineering workshop, bread and biscuit, flour mill parts, re-rolling mills, electronics, etc. HMT Ltd is a large-scale enterprise situated on Beawar Road, Ajmer which manufactures Lathe Machines and machine tools. Another such large-scale industry is the Ajmer Dairy, which produces milk, ghee and butter.

Industrial areas in Ajmer have been developed by RIICO. HMT I and II, Makhupur and Parbatpura are the primary projects accomplished by RIICO. Gegal is another successful project of RIICO which is situated at Ajmer-Kishangarh route at a distance of around 12 km from Ajmer.

 

Sub-division, Kishangarh --

Powerloom Enterprises

Kishangarh is a very important subdivision of Ajmer district. It houses 4308 MSMEs registered by DIC, Ajmer. The chief trades of these MSMEs are powerloom cloth, marble slabs, tiles, granite slabs etc.

In powerloom sector, there are 600 enterprises having 4500 powerlooms in working condition. There are 8566 direct and indirect employments and the fixed capital investment is Rs 12 crore. In these enterprises, different sizes of looms have been deployed. They are 120”, 110”, 102”, 80”, 72”, 50”, 52” and 48”. The main machinery in this sector is sectional warping and winding. Raw material is purchased from Gulabpura, Bhilwara, Gangapur, Jhansi, Ichhalkaran, Haryana and Kanpur. Sizes 6”, 10”, 16”, 20”, 24”, 30” and 34” are used in powerloom cloth. This cloth is supplied to Jaipur, Pali, Balotra, Amritsar, Sarthana, Delhi, Agra and Panipat.

Marble & Granite Enterprises:-

            There are 400 gangsaw machines which are deployed in Kishangarh to manufacture marble slabs and tiles. The investment in marble units is Rs 400 crore. This sector employs 7000 direct and indirect employees.

32 granite enterprises have been setup in this region with Rs 16 crore of capital investment. 385 employees have been employed for working in these enterprises.

Other main enterprises are of marble cutting and crazey and the investment is of about Rs 15.30 crore. 1995 employees are employed in marble edge cutting units.

Well-known firm RK Marbles is also located in Kishangarh.

Almost all the industrial areas of the region have been developed by RIICO, primarily I, II, III and IV phases of industrial areas and the marble mandi. Another successful project by RIICO is the Silora Industrial Area which is located at NSD Road, NH 8, Jaipur.  Roopangarh I and II phase rural areas have been developed by the District Industries Centre.

Handicraft:-

            Kishangarh’s handicraft is well-known not only across the country but globally. The art is developed on paper, cloth, wood, marble and on leather and is exported to various countries. Patchwork on bedsheets and pillow covers is another category of handicraft which is done in the villages of Tilonia, Harmara and Narana.

Handicraft done on marble stone can be well seen on table lamps, flowerpots and also on the famous temples in Kishangarh and Roopangarh.

The craftsmanship of the artisans can be judged by the fact that many of these artists have won The Kalidas and Lalit Academy Award numerous times and others have been honoured at the State-level.

 

Sub division, Beawar

Beawar is another essential sub-division of Ajmer District. There are 3190 MSMEs registered by DIC, Ajmer. The main enterprises are cement, jali, asbestos, cement pipe, quartz, feldspar grinding, woolen based powerloom etc. The MSMEs have invested Rs 12 crore and they have employed a total of 5000 direct and indirect employees.

 

There are 86 Ball Mills in Beawar district with a total of Rs 10.67 crore of capital investment. 1250 employees are employed under this sector. M/s Shree Cement Ltd, Raj Cement and BWR Shree Vijay Cotton Mill, Bijainagar are the large scale enterprises under the Ball Mill sector of the Beawar sub-division.

 

In the private sector, there are three industrial areas:  Jawaharlal Nehru Industrial Area, Lal Bahadur Shastri Industrial Area and Indira Gandhi Industrial Area.

 

RIICO has also developed three industrial areas in Beawar. Industrial Areas I, II and III are the primary areas developed by RIICO. Another industrial area has been developed at Bijainagar by RIICO.

 

Woolen Complex, Gohana is another successful venture under RIICO’s name. 25 plots have been planned and are allotted to entrepreneurs at Gohana.

Kekri sub-division

 

Another vital sub-division of Ajmer district is Kekri wherein 1925 MSMEs have been registered by DIC, Ajmer. Woolen mills, surgical cotton, oil mills, mica, quartz and feldspar grinding and woollen carpet manufacturing are the main enterprises of the region. RIICO has developed Industrial Areas I, II and III in Kekri and recently, an industrial area has been set up by RIICO at Sawar (Onkarpura).

Rural Industrial Areas developed by DIC:-

Roopangarh Industrial Area - I

          DIC has developed Industrial Area I in Roopangarh. 44 plots have been developed in this industrial area out of which 43 are allotted and one has been kept reserved by the DIC, as a service centre. In this industrial area, 40 enterprises work on the production of marble slabs and tiles.

 

Roopangarh Industrial Area - II

 

Looking at the need of another industrial area, DIC developed Industrial Area II in Roopangarh. 90 plots have been allotted to entrepreneurs in this industrial area. 91 bigha of land is kept reserved for the expansion of this industrial area. RIICO has been given the responsibility by DIC to further develop this industrial area.

 

Industrial Area Bhagwanpura, Jawaja

 

Adding another successful project under their name, DIC has developed an industrial area in Bhagwanpura, Jawaja wherein 16 plots have been developed and all of them have been allotted to entrepreneurs. The main function of these enterprises is mineral grinding.  

 

Industrialization and potential industries

 

Till March 31, 2008, 22 industrial areas were developed by RIICO in Ajmer district. Total of 3514 plots have been planned in these industrial areas. Out of these, 3248 have already been allotted and 235 plots are under construction. 53 plots are still vacant.

 

The gradual increase in industrialisation can be observed by the fact that DIC had registered 7891 enterprises till March 31, 1989, and after 20 years, i.e. March 31, 2008, this number went up to 15683. The total capital investment in the development of these MSMEs is Rs 55925.44 lakh with the employee strength of 76441.
